We are very pleased to announce that the German version of the DVD (PAL) can now be ordered from Salzgeber.de or JPC.de (see our web site). The cover of the DVD is in German, but the film itself is in English!
The NTSC version of the DVD can be ordered from dragadesign.com (home video & clubs) and from Third World Newsreel (education & institutional market distribution@twn.org).
The DVD has over 70 minutes of extraordinary special features, including Audre reading her poetry, Audre reflecting on her literary work two months before her passing, meeting with South African author and activist Ellen Kuzwayo, an interview with Dagmar Schultz, a music clip by Corasón, whose music is in the film, and more scenes of Audre Lorde in Berlin, as well as the trailer. The film has subtitles in English/German, French and Spanish!
The film has been screened up to now in over 35 festivals after having its world premier at the Berlinale 2012. Recently it received the audience award as best documentary at the Barcelona Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival! Ika Hügel-Marshall and I had two very successful tours throughout the US with the Audre Lorde Legacy Cultural Festival in March and from September through October (see reports on the film’s website and on FaceBook).
More good news: the Archives of the library of the Free University of Berlin have installed an “Audre Lorde Archive”: http://www.fu-berlin.de/sites/uniarchiv/bestaende/abteilung3/nachlass_lorde/index.html
Please support the distribution of the film by ordering it yourself and by promoting it on your listserve, web site, or FaceBook; by asking your libraries to order it, etc. As Corasón, whose music is in the film, wrote for the celebration on November 17, 2012 the 20th anniversary of Audre Lorde’s passing: “May Audre’s spirit fly on and reach many!”
