  • a number of screenings in Germany.

Poznan, PolandIn December I was in Poznan, Poland where the Arsenal Gallery had produced Polish subtitles! (photo right: Arsenal Gallery, Poznan)

Most exciting were the screenings in South Korea. Young-Rong CHOO, who had seen the film in Berlin, decided to produce Korean subtitles and organized screenings in Seoul. The interest was so great that she made contracts with „pop.up cinema“, a platform for community screenings.

Other news:
In Berlin a street will be renamed after Audre Lorde upon the initiative of the Green Party! Several events were organized, some had to be postponed because of Corona, but we hope to finalize the action this year!

“Die Quelle unserer Macht” (The Source of Our Power)Two books were published: a reprint of Audre Lorde’s personal selection of her poetry in the bilingual edition Die Quelle unserer Macht” (The Source of Our Power), Unrast Verlag

Audre Lorde: Dream of Europe. Selected seminars and interviews 1984 – 1992, edited by Mayra A. Rodriguez Castro was published by Kenning Editions in Chicago (ww.kenningeditions.com)

Audre Lorde: Dream of Europe. Selected seminars and interviews 1984 – 1992Mayra worked with the materials in the Audre Lorde Archive at the Free University of Berlin. She transcribed the audio recordings of the seminars Audre taught in 1984 as well as interviews, readings and other documents – a truly exceptional work!

Launch events for Audre Lorde: Dream of Europe have been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Future events will be hosted at De Appel (Amsterdam), Artists Space (New York), Rosa Luxembourg Stiftung (New York), Savvy Contemporary (Berlin), and Hyle (Athens).

To celebrate the book release Mayra produced a unique video of remote readings from the book by women of color – enjoy and share!

Empowering Encounters with Audre LordeAn additional book on Audre Lorde to be recommended, also published by Unrast Verlag: Empowering Encounters with Audre Lorde by Marion Kraft, translator of Audre Lorde’s poetry e.g. in Die Quelle unserer Macht
